Step 1 - break their posture
- pull knees to chest to bring them down onto you
- control the head/collar and one wrist so they can't sit back up
- never let them settle upright with grips on your hips
They straighten an arm to push you flat / defend the choke
- an arm across your centerline is an armbar
- pin the wrist, hips high, pivot off angle, knees pinched
They yank the arm free to escape the armbar
- one arm in, one arm out = triangle
- keep the wrist, shoot the legs high, lock the ankle, cut the angle
They posture up / lean back to stack or open the guard
- sit up with them, don't stay flat
- overhook the same-side arm above the elbow
- post your other hand behind you, bump hips up and over
They post an arm on the mat to stop the sweep
- a posted arm is a kimura
- figure-four the wrist, fall back, keep their elbow tight
They hide the arm and drive their head into your chest
- wrap the neck as they drive in - guillotine
- hip bump, kimura and guillotine cycle off each other, keep attacking
They kneel upright / stiff-arm your chest to open the guard
- get a collar grip + same-side sleeve grip
- shin across their chest, other foot hooks the knee
- pull, chop and follow up to mount
