Full Mount

akaMounted Position

/Overview

The full mount, or mounted position, is a highly dominant position in grappling where the top player sits on the opponent's torso, controlling their hips with their legs and pinning their body to the ground. This position offers little opportunity for the bottom player to counterattack, forcing them into a defensive posture to avoid defeat. To achieve full mount, lock your upper torso onto the opponent's, pinning and controlling their hips with pressure from your lower legs. A properly executed full mount restricts the opponent's movement and provides opportunities for arm-based submissions, strangulations, and transitions to other dominant positions. Full mount demonstrates many of the key traits desired in an offensive position: limited vulnerability and powerful attack options. The full mount can be achieved by passing an opponents guard and from here transitions to back control or the attaining of various submission are common.
