Hane Makikomi, translated as 'Springing Wraparound Throw,' is a sacrifice throw that combines the springing action of Hane Goshi with a wrapping or winding motion to take the opponent down. It is typically executed by stepping across the opponent's body, springing your leg against theirs, and simultaneously wrapping your arm around their body while falling to the mat. To perform Hane Makikomi, establish a firm grip on the opponent's sleeve and collar. Step forward and across the opponent's body with your lead leg, positioning your other leg to spring against their thigh or knee, similar to Hane Goshi. Use your leg to spring upwards and inwards while simultaneously wrapping your arm around their body and falling to your side or back. The combination of the springing action, the wrapping motion, and the sacrifice action creates a dynamic and powerful takedown. It is commonly considered a variation of the previously mentioned Hane Goshi technique. It may be performed with or without the gi but is usually applied using a strong grip.
