Hane Goshi

akaSpringing Hip Throw
1 / 1
/Overview

Hane Goshi, often referred to as the 'Spring Hip Throw,' is a dynamic hip throw that utilizes a distinctive springing action of the leg to generate power and lift the opponent off the ground. To perform Hane Goshi, establish a firm grip on the opponent's sleeve and collar. As they move forward or attempt to establish their balance, step across their body with your lead leg and position your hip against theirs. Simultaneously, use your other leg to spring upwards and inwards, contacting the back of the opponent's thigh or knee. This springing action, combined with a strong pulling motion from your arms, lifts the opponent off the ground and allows you to throw them over your hip. It's similar in action to the previously described harai goshi.
