Daki Wakare

akaEmbrace Seperation
1 / 1
/Overview

Daki Wakare, often translated as 'Embrace Separation' or 'High Lift and Separate,' is a sacrifice throw that involves lifting the opponent high off the ground and then separating your bodies while dropping them to the mat. It is a visually impressive throw that requires great strength, timing, and coordination. To perform Daki Wakare, establish a firm grip around the opponent's torso, similar to a bear hug, with your arms wrapped tightly around their body. Quickly lift the opponent off the ground by driving upwards with your legs and hips while maintaining your grip. Once the opponent is airborne, explosively separate your body from theirs by pushing them away with your arms while simultaneously falling backward to the mat. The sudden separation and the opponent's lack of base create a powerful takedown. Due to the high impact nature of this throw it is potentially dangerous for the recipient. This may result in this throw being banned from competition.
