The Tripod Sweep is a high-percentage sweep from open guard. The setup involves the bottom player controlling both of the opponent's sleeves and placing both feet on the opponent's hips. This control breaks the opponent's posture and limits their base. To execute the sweep, the attacker removes one foot from a hip and sharply kicks the back of the opponent's corresponding ankle while simultaneously pulling the sleeve. This collapses one of the three points of the opponent's base (two feet, one hand post), causing them to fall.
