The Butterfly Guard Sweep is a key sweep and transition-type movement that utilizes all core elements of that guard system to make it incredibly successful, as long as it follows that guard philosophy and body placements that are specific to this. It provides an attacker or user with a powerful sweeping-type move when at an an initial position or as you are working in position and grip security through hooks to better enhance the technique itself. Proper base must begin when you elevate, controlling and using specific foot-based positions against their legs or core. In turn, you are destabilizing and manipulating their foundations for base, setting up a powerful but short sweep movement against them. Pulling or manipulating while making all efforts with coordinated leg lifting by creating a solid force and pulling with arm movements while your hooks lift to take their stance up and force them in place onto the ground safely, ready for securing for an attacking position, and to prevent their own attempts from taking you off.
