Gyaku Juji Jime, commonly referred to as the 'Reverse Cross Choke,' is a choking technique that involves using a reverse grip on the opponent's collar to apply pressure to the carotid arteries and cut off blood flow to the brain. It is typically applied from the top position when the opponent is lying on their back. To perform Gyaku Juji Jime, establish a position on top of the opponent, such as mount or side control. With one hand, grip the opponent's collar on the opposite side of your gripping hand, with your thumb inside the collar and fingers outside. Your other hand grips the opponent's same-side collar, also with your thumb inside and fingers outside. The hands are crossed, with the reverse grip (thumb inside, fingers outside) being the primary choking hand. To finish the choke, pull both collars towards each other while rotating your wrists outwards. This action tightens the collars around the opponent's neck, applying pressure to the carotid arteries and causing a blood choke. The primary difference between this and the previous technique is the position of your hands.
