Z Lock

akaKnee Knot · Z-Lock

/Overview

The Z Lock is a highly dangerous rotational leg lock that applies immense twisting pressure to the knee. It's characterized by the 'Z' shape the opponent's leg is forced into during the submission. Often set up from positions like the K-guard or during leg entanglement scrambles, the attacker controls the opponent's foot and uses their own legs to isolate and twist the knee joint. Due to the high risk of ligament damage (ACL, MCL), it is often banned in competitions or restricted to advanced, no-gi divisions.
