Deep half guard

Technique Description

Deep Half Guard is an evolved variation from basic principles, often using unique lower and deeper angles that are designed to greatly restrict any dominant or forward-facing motion against those positions. Initiating such a powerful base involves first having both an opponent's leg controlled inside your own lower limbs, then transitioning your body deep by forcing one's torso all the way towards one area, which places that controlling force deeply to help enhance your access and force options when moving their base by acting as a natural force point that disrupts. During application, these methods provide all the tools to sweep those above by manipulating their lower balance to prevent passes or any kind of body movements due to all focus on areas such as the ankle and knee joints. These are manipulated for controlling aspects when you become skilled with transition positions, using your own body weight as that lever or push-off point to move their base up off the ground with your movement into top control after their pass is broken down and countered. The focus must primarily be using control and grip mechanics with added mobility via rotation for success. Effective and timely force is what makes it different. This is sometimes considered an evolution of the half guard.
