The Von Flue choke, named after Jason Von Flue, is an effective submission often used when the opponent attempts a guillotine choke from the bottom. This technique uses the opponent's guillotine attempt as leverage to restrict blood flow. To set up the Von Flue choke, use the opponent's neck position from their guillotine attempt, with their arms wrapping around you while you are positioned inside the hold. This gives you a platform to apply pressure with your shoulder. Drive forward and lower your position while simultaneously driving your shoulder and arm into the opponent's neck. Keep your head low to apply the correct amount of pressure and squeeze around their throat, preventing airflow and blood flow. This should loosen their grip, allowing you to complete the Von Flue choke and force a submission.
