Gogoplata

1 / 3
/Overview

The gogoplata is an unconventional yet effective strangulation method in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, typically applied from a guard position. It utilizes the shinbone as a platform for compression around the opponent's throat. To set up the choke, establish a closed or rubber guard and begin setting the base. Pull your head up over the opponent's shoulder and extend one leg across their back or front, securing it behind their head so that your shin acts as the foundation. Position the other leg against their back for leverage. Work quickly to grip your foot and pull downward, applying compression to the windpipe and constricting airflow to the brain. This technique can force a quick submission if applied correctly.
