Baseball Bat Choke

1 / 3
/Overview

The baseball bat choke is a swift and devastating gi choke often applied from dominant positions. It involves wrapping the opponent's collar into the grip of one hand and using a twisting motion similar to swinging a baseball bat to apply pressure to the neck and carotid arteries. From a top control position, establish a firm grip on the opponent's collar. Wrap the collar into your hand, using your fingers to enhance the grip. Pull the collar across their neck in an arcing motion, while bringing your other arm down to pin their throat. Twist your arms and apply downward pressure to create a rapid and severe compression, forcing a quick submission. Care should be taken during training to avoid injuring your partner. The baseball choke is often transitioned to from top positions, such as kesa gatame or side control.
