Yama Arashi

akaMountain Storm
1 / 1
/Overview

Yama Arashi, which translates to 'Mountain Storm,' is a forceful throw that combines elements of hand and hip techniques. It is typically executed from a standard grip, with one hand on the opponent's sleeve and the other on their lapel. To perform Yama Arashi, pull the opponent forward while stepping across their body with your lead leg, placing it deep between their legs. Simultaneously, use your other leg to reap their supporting leg from the inside, similar to an Ouchi Gari. As you break their balance with the leg reap, use your upper body strength and hip rotation to lift and throw them over your hip. The combination of the leg reap, hip throw, and strong pulling action makes Yama Arashi a powerful and dynamic technique.
