Ude Hishigi Sankaku Gatame, often referred to as the 'Triangle Arm Lock,' is a submission technique that combines the principles of the Triangle Choke with an arm lock. It is typically applied from a guard position and involves using your legs to form a triangle around the opponent's head and arm while simultaneously applying pressure to their elbow joint. To perform Ude Hishigi Sankaku Gatame, establish a Triangle Choke position by wrapping your legs around the opponent's neck and one arm, forming a triangle shape. Once the triangle is secured, use your hands to control the opponent's trapped arm, typically by gripping their wrist or forearm. Extend the trapped arm across your body while maintaining the triangle lock with your legs. Apply pressure to the elbow joint by extending your hips and pulling the arm, creating a hyperextension that forces a submission. It may also be applied from other positions. This submission should be applied slowly and safely in the training environment.
