Sode Guruma Jime, commonly referred to as the 'Ezekiel Choke' or 'Sleeve Wheel Choke,' is a unique and powerful choking technique that utilizes the opponent's own sleeve to create the constriction. It can be applied from various positions, both on the ground and in stand-up grappling, making it a versatile and effective submission. To perform Sode Guruma Jime, use one hand to reach inside the opponent's opposite sleeve, gripping the fabric firmly. Your other hand then reaches under the opponent's neck and grips your own sleeve, creating a loop around their neck. To finish the choke, rotate your hands and forearms in a circular motion, similar to turning a steering wheel, while simultaneously applying pressure to the sides of the opponent's neck. The combination of the sleeve grip and the circular motion creates a powerful constriction that can quickly force a submission or lead to unconsciousness. In Judo, the standard application involves using your own sleeves to complete the choke. However, in Jiu-Jitsu, there are numerous variations where you use the opponents sleeve instead. It can be used as a surprise attack from various positions, including the top, bottom, and standing.
