Okuri Eri Jime, commonly known as the 'Sliding Collar Choke,' is a choking technique that utilizes the opponent's own collar to create the constriction. It is often applied from the back control position and is known for its effectiveness in gi grappling. To perform Okuri Eri Jime, establish a back control position on the opponent. Reach one hand across the opponent's neck and grip their opposite collar, deep inside with your thumb inside and fingers outside. Your other hand reaches under the opponent's armpit and grips their same-side collar, also with your thumb inside and fingers outside. To finish the choke, slide your hands along the collar, tightening the grip around the opponent's neck while simultaneously pulling downwards and inwards. This action constricts the carotid arteries, cutting off blood flow to the brain and forcing a submission. This is considered one of the most common and fundamental back attacks.
