Ko Soto Gari

akaMinor Outer Reap
1 / 1
/Overview

Ko Soto Gari, referred to as the 'Minor Outer Reaping Throw,' is a leg throw that involves reaping the opponent's leg from the outside while using your upper body to off-balance and throw them. It is often used in combination with other throws or as a counter to an opponent's posture or movement. To perform Ko Soto Gari, establish a firm grip on the opponent's sleeve and collar. Step to the outside of the opponent's leg and use the back of your foot or lower leg to reap their leg from the outside. Simultaneously, use your upper body grips to pull the opponent forward and sideways, disrupting their balance. The combination of the leg reap and the upper body pull creates a dynamic takedown, often resulting in the opponent falling backward or to the side.
