Waiter Sweep

1 / 3
/Overview

The waiter sweep, or as it's commonly also called; muscle sweep, is a sweep utilized often from a guard-style base positioning. In this sweep you start manipulating your opponent's upper base into creating openings whilst manipulating their weight off center during a sweeping action and motion. From your control-based base, grab around areas such as sleeves, and create firm points of contact with your feet. Use them also as added points to apply further manipulation on parts of their base and use their legs as anchors. Secure the grips while actively controlling their limbs before starting, and pull forward on the selected limb. Use that tension against them as your body is going backwards. While driving back, use the lift from the leg as if kicking off for greater power as their body becomes airborne. Using the momentum you have made from that, now work quickly on transitioning over into an attacking-style stance and complete that maneuver in as efficient a style as is humanly possible. Doing so requires all of your limbs acting and controlling each section fully in coordination with the others, making the sweep appear seamless if properly done. This is important not only for winning matches or getting a superior position but also for maintaining your position.
