Reverse triangle choke

Alternate names: Inverted Triangle, Ushiro Sankaku Jime

1 / 4

Technique Description

The Reverse Triangle Choke is a powerful variation of the standard triangle choke (sankaku jime) where the attacker's body is oriented in the opposite direction. Instead of facing the opponent, the attacker is typically facing their back or side, with their legs locked in a figure-four around the opponent's neck and arm from a different angle. This submission is often caught opportunistically during scrambles, from top side control (frequently in conjunction with a kimura trap), or when an opponent attempts to turn away to defend a back take. The unorthodox positioning creates immense choking pressure and is notoriously difficult to defend once locked in.
