Hammerlock

1 / 3
/Overview

The hammerlock is a shoulder lock and joint manipulation technique often set up from dominant positions like side control or mount. To execute a hammerlock, use your arm to pin the opponent's arm to the mat. Grab their wrist and pull it tightly, creating leverage against their arm and body. Begin to move their arm behind their back by pulling and turning at the wrist while maintaining your base grip. Secure a lock on your grip and apply consistent, precise pressure upwards against the shoulder joint, using your shoulder for increased strength. This turning and pulling motion applies significant torque to the shoulder, leading to a submission. Apply slow but forceful torque to reduce the risk of injury during training sessions.
