Elevator Sweep

akaHook Sweep
1 / 3
/Overview

The elevator sweep, sometimes also referred to as the hook sweep, is a dynamic move that effectively uses your legs to destabilize and elevate your opponent. Starting from a guard position, secure one of your legs behind your opponent's knee, creating a hook. With your other foot, place it on their hip or thigh, which acts as a supporting point and allows you to generate a powerful push. Now, execute a coordinated motion: Simultaneously, push forcefully with the foot that’s on their hip and use your hook to lift them up while actively pulling their upper body towards you. As you scissor or 'elevator' your legs in a smooth movement, their base is disrupted, and your opponent should begin to move in a vertical motion, leaving them off-balance and allowing you to capitalize and establish top position through the sweep. This swift and coordinated action should take them to the ground quickly.
