100 Percent Sweep

1 / 3
/Overview

The 100 Percent Sweep is a fundamental technique often initiated from a closed or open guard. To begin, establish a strong grip on your opponent's sleeves or wrists, maintaining control over their upper body. Simultaneously, use your legs to secure their hips, preventing them from posturing up. The next step is to create space; achieve this by extending your legs and pushing your opponent away slightly. Subsequently, transition to bringing their weight forward, using a strong pulling motion with your arms while initiating a hip movement that will roll them directly over your body, often bringing your hips upwards during this moment. This motion allows you to effectively transition your opponent to the ground, ideally into a dominant position such as side control or mount, allowing for continued attacks or transitions.
